The book also discusses happiness and focuses on looking at yourself and the importance of how you are feeling and how you treat yourself. How we all look at others and how we think they are better than us and just giving a gentle reminder that we are all different and can make mistakes but after all we are only human. For me this is a book for young and old and that once in a while we should all get creative.

The books is divided into chapters following the GREAT DREAM with activities and exercises that can help to open up conversations and discussions around each of the keys, all found to be evidence based and well researched in terms of enhancing wellbeing and resilience. As such, it is equally applicable to the school library shelf and book corner in the classroom as it is to the home, as a gift to a child or parent and for use within the family. Although probably intended for primary school years, many of the activities and exercises would also be suitable for lower secondary pupils and indeed for the adults who may be involved.
Simple games such as 'Happiness investigator' and 'Snakes and Ladders' resilience game are simple but effective activities that will illustrate and demonstrate how different we all are in terms of coping mechanisms and what makes us feel happier. The books is colourful and illustrated in gender neutral ways thus making it appeal to a wide range of children and ages. An excellent addition to the school library or family bookshelf!

This activity guide is filled with 50 activities your child can perform in order to be more self-aware, grateful and happy. The activities range from healthy eating, exercising, understanding emotions, making social connections, etc. Some of the games can also act as icebreakers for the kids during their birthday parties and other social activities.

Then gratitude and mindfulness, which are very popular concepts and again might be of use, but I fear they might be difficult concepts for younger children in particular to appreciate. Generally, some nice ideas, though I wonder about the effectiveness of both some of the language used and many of the activities suggested when we consider the children who might need most help with being happy.
There would certainly need to be close involvement with an adult who could help guide the child so as the individual needs are met as well as possible. I think it's probably a nice book of activities for the majority of children to dip into as they wish, a bit of fun for a group of friends, but as I say perhaps not for the seriously unhappy who need help most.
